Plot Outline: The story of how impoverished Indian teen Jamal Malik became a contestant on the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be A Millionaire?" -- an endeavor made without prize money in mind, rather, an effort to prove his love for his friend Latika, who is an ardent fan of the show.
Plot: The story of Jamal Malik (Patel), an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika (Pinto), the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its exuberant storytelling lies the intriguing question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

Movie Quotes: Bill Compton: Aren't you afraid to be out here alone with a hungry vampire?
    Sookie Stackhouse: No.
Bill Compton: Vampires often turn on those who trust them, you know. We don't have human values like you.
Sookie Stackhouse: A lot of humans turn on those who trust them, too.
[takes out a silver chain and wraps it around her neck]
Sookie Stackhouse: I'm not a total fool.
Bill Compton: Oh, but you have other very juicy arteries. There is one in the groin that is a particular favorite of mine.
Sookie Stackhouse: Hey, you just shut your nasty mouth, mister! You might be a vampire, but when you talk to me, you will talk to me like the lady that I am!

Crazy Credits: We know about 1 Crazy Credits. One of them reads:
Post Production Security: Sam "Lampshade" Van Valkenburg Mattey

Goofs: We know about 6 goofs. Here comes one of them:
Revealing mistakes: In the trailers, when Delaney (Craig Robinson) says the line "Han Solo and Princess Leia ain't never had no sex in Star War," Lester (Jason Mewes) can be seeing mouthing the line along with him. This may well be an intentional reference to the goof in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) where Harrison Ford can be seen mouthing Carrie Fisher's line.

Trivia: There are 2 entries in the trivia list - like these:
    • After failing to find a suitable actor in India, Dev Patel was cast as the lead role, Jamal, after Danny Boyle's daughter first saw him on the English TV show "Skins" (2007) and urged her father to take a look.
    • Mercedes-Benz asked that its logos be removed in scenes taking place in the slums. The company, according to Danny Boyle, did not want to be associated with the poverty-stricken area, fearing that that might taint its image.
