Movie Storyline
When a massive power outage plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, a disparate group of individuals find themselves alone. The entire city's population has vanished into thin air, leaving behind heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. Soon the daylight begins to disappear completely, and as the survivors gather in an abandoned tavern, they realize the darkness is out to get them, and only their rapidly diminishing light sources can keep them safe.

User Review:
Just plain boring...
, rated: 2/10
I seriously had expected much, much more from this movie. Especially
because John Leguizamo was in it. And the label said "horror", yeah,
well that was hardly true. Mystery and suspense, yes. But horror? No!
The story told in "Vanishing on 7th Street" is, and I am sorry to say,
boring, weak and rather uneventful. Nothing much is happening
throughout the entire movie, except for a small group of people trying
to cling to every single source of light in a world of impending
darkness, and with the darkness comes something else...
With names like John Leguizamo and Hayden Christensen on the list, you
would believe yourself in for a somewhat good movie. And they did do
their best with their roles, but the movie just failed to impress.
What was really working for the movie was the feel of the atmosphere
and the creeping darkness that was always lurking. There was a good
sense of dread and hopelessness in the movie. That worked quite well,
to be honest. And I also enjoyed the fact that you never really got to
find out what it was that was lurking about in the darkness.
"Vanishing on 7th Street" was really a major disappointment in many
ways, and it was building up lots of suspense throughout the entire
movie, and most of them came off in a good climax, but just not fully
enough to make the movie worthwhile.
If you are in for an evening of horror, "Vanishing on 7th Street" is
not a good choice. But if you like supernatural movies that keep you in
suspense, then "Vanishing on 7th Street" might just be the right movie
for you.
